Smoky Quartz is another coarse variety of quartz. Color can vary from gray to brown with warm, clear light and almost “solid” looking for brown / black. This transparent brown, black or gray color makes the stone is easily recognizable. The color is due to natural radiation occurring in the environment (quartz crystals can be irradiated in the laboratory to create the smoke color, it is not recommended because it can usually be identified). Collectors who prefer a natural now to be feared that buying when.

Smoky Quartz occurs mainly in quartz veins, where it forms inside the cavity rock (also known as “vugs”). Also, found in the nuclei pregmatites, but as a secondary crystal in geodes. It is not unusual to find small cavities inside the crystal Smoky Quartz, which contain water and carbon dioxide, and sometimes both. These cavities are called enhydros.
If the motion of fluid and gas inclusions in the cavity can be seen with the naked eye of our own, then they are called elestial enhydros. If a significant amount of fluid inclusions are found in abundance, the crystal becomes opaque and is called Milky Quartz. Many Smoky Quartz crystals are one passing the other on the bed Milky Quartz. Hematite, Goethite, and chlorine or other common mineral inclusions, which can be found in smoky quartz.
